The Law of Detachment states that to acquire anything in the physical universe, you must first relinquish your attachment to it.
Deepak Chopra shares this law in his book, “The Seven Laws of Spiritual Success.”
In Chapter 6 of this book, Chopra states:
“In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty, in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning.” – Deepak Chopra
We are invited to step into the unknown, where all possibilities exist.
We can create from this place the reality we all wish to experience.
The Law of Detachment asks us to avoid fixating our energy on the process or the outcome.
The reason is the vibrational energy associated with attachment resonates at a lower frequency which holds us back from manifesting our desires.
In modern times, Dr. Joe Dispenza describes this as avoiding feelings of lack and separation.
Choose to surrender with faith rather than fight with doubt.
Manifesting desires is difficult when we focus on desired outcomes and timeframes.
This always invites overthinking, fear, and expectations.
Law of Detachment Mistakes to Avoid
1. Abandoning the present moment.
When we focus on outcomes and timelines, we focus on the future.
Remaining attached to emotions of previous experiences keeps us tied to the past.
In both situations, we abandon the generosity and creative energy of the present moment.
2. Giving up your intention or desire.
You’re not being asked to give up on your dreams and desires.
Continue to be intentional with your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Feel the emotions of your wish fulfilled.
3. A lack of belief in yourself.
God, source, or the universe exists within you, not outside of you.
You have the power to create within yourself by using the power of your imagination.
Choose to believe in yourself and your ability to create all that you wish to.
4. Choosing fear over faith.
When pondering your future or the unknown, you can choose fear or faith.
Choose fear, and you’ll push your desires away from you.
Faith attracts your desires to you even though they are initially unseen.
5. Stop chasing security.
Those who seek security chase it for a lifetime without ever finding it.
The search for security and certainty is an attachment to the known or familiar past.
To have what you’ve never experienced, you must embrace the unknown, the unfamiliar, and the uncertain.
6. Finding comfort in the known and familiar.
We love the comfort of the familiar because it feels safe and provides a sense of security.
Choosing the known and familiar is choosing to live the same day as yesterday.
Embrace the uncomfortability and brilliance of the unknown, as it’s where all possibilities lie!
7. Choosing rigidity over fluidity.
We create a rigid framework when we set expectations for our desired outcomes.
The universe is fluid, creative, and brilliant in its desire to provide for us constantly.
Trust that the universe has your back and that you’re on track.
When you understand the Law of Detachment, you no longer feel the desire to force solutions.
Your perspective on mistakes and failures is viewed as an opportunity to learn and to grow.
Problems in your life are the seeds for your growth.
What to do next
Avoid forcing solutions to perceived problems in your life, as it creates more problems.
View the uncertainty in your life as a security and NOT insecurity.
“The best way to predict your future is to create it within the present moment.”
Enjoy the adventure of life and surrender to all it brings to you.
