You’re about to read 17 ways to start living freely with an execution plan to put these tips into action.
The personal gains you can potentially experience are far greater than you might expect.
Let this article inspire you to create change in your life starting at this very moment!
How Do You Define Living Freely?
Is it living free of responsibility, debt, or financial burden?
Maybe you view it as something a bit more spiritual?
Living free from the past, regret, or recent mistakes and failures?
Start your journey by asking yourself how you define living freely.
Let’s explore many of the different ways for you to start experiencing personal freedom.
17 Easy Ways to Start Living Freely and Feel Blissful
1. Identify where the resistance to living freely exists
What’s holding you back from living your best life?
Is someone close to you holding you back or are you the root cause?
These questions certainly aren’t easy to ask, yet the insights they reveal are golden opportunities for you.
The harder these questions are to answer, the greater the truth they will reveal.
2. Consider shifting your perspective on freedom
I used to think freedom was having a ton of money yet the more money I made, the more I spent.
Freedom became a distant memory and not a foreseeable future.
Your perspective is one of your superpowers so start using it more often.
Shift your perspective on the freedom to one that serves you and can be experienced daily.
3. Become a minimalist in more ways than one
One of the most powerful ways to live more is to live with less.
I used to own a big house, a Ferrari and had to work a full week every week to pay for it.
The financial weight on my shoulders was very heavy and I feel far from free.
The single best thing I’ve done in the last 15 years was to sell all my stuff and become a minimalist.
Challenge yourself to not just get rid of stuff but to free your mind of all the overthinking, worry, and clutter as well.
4. Use your imagination to serve you more often
Your greatest gift is your own human imagination.
When’s the last time you actively chose to use it to serve you?
I use my imagination to picture an enjoyable scene in detail to the point where it elicits an elevated emotion.
Imagination paves the road to your reality to start using it daily!
5. Better manage the meaning you place on things
Nothing in life has meaning until we give meaning to it.
The meaning you place on things determines your experience with them.
For example, if your lover doesn’t call you at noon like they normally do, what meaning do you place on it?
Do you imagine them caring less about you or do you imagine them simply behind the eight ball at work?
Learning how to live life freely starts with better management of the meaning you place on events in your life.
6. Lower your expectations
We all want to live a simple life without stress or worry.
Lowering or removing expectations cause stress levels to decrease.
The emotional responses you experience are a result of your perceptions minus your expectations. (ER = P-E)
Increase the odds of your emotional response being favorable to any event in your life using this strategy.
7. Change your perspective of the unknown and the unfamiliar
To live free means to live without fear of the unknown
Fear is a future event appearing as real and can paralyze even the best of us.
What makes your unknown future beautiful is your ability to create it!
Your brain doesn’t know the difference between that which is real and that which is imagined.
Bridge the gap between your desires and reality using the power of your imagination to make the unknown feel known, and the unfamiliar feel more familiar.
8. Live free of judgment
This is a biggie and should have 5 stars next to it.
We are often our own biggest critics which can result in feelings of guilt, shame, and embarrassment.
Stop judging yourself and feeling like a victim.
Choose to accept and love yourself just as you are.
Once you begin to love yourself more, you start to feel more love come to you.
9. Master the art of letting go
Here’s one of my favorite quotes about living freely and letting go:
“Accept what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.”
Letting go is one of the top 3 skills I teach my clients to master and is used daily.
Remove your emotional attachment to less desirable experiences in your life the moment they happen.
Choose to focus your energy on moving forward and refuse to allow it to remain stuck on replays of your past.
10. Reassess the contributions of the 5 people closest to you
I know you’ve heard that you are the product of the 5 people closest to you.
The question is, what have you done to put this powerful knowledge into action?
Start by writing down a list of the 5 people closest to you.
Next to each person, write a checkmark if they lift you up and an “X” if they bring you down.
Spend more time with the people with a checkmark and less with those who don’t.
11. Become very familiar with the term acceptance
Let me explain how the power of acceptance will allow you to enjoy life more.
Imagine someone saying something quite mean to you that is uncalled for.
If you accept what they said as a reflection of who they are, you will be free of anger.
If you choose not to accept what they said, you will be filled with rage and anger.
Acceptance isn’t being happy about an experience yet accepting that it happened and cannot be changed.
12. Set daily intentions on how you would like to feel every morning
One of my favorite ways to enjoy life more is by setting a feeling-based intention every morning before your two feet hit the floor.
This isn’t a to-do list yet; more of a to-feel list.
Start by thinking of an emotion you want to experience the same day.
Next, please think of the smallest action or actions you can take the same day to feel it.
This is a powerful way to build confidence, create momentum, and live life to the fullest.
13. Fall asleep while feeling the emotion of gratitude
Do you state what you’re grateful for or feel it?
Gratitude is a powerful receiving emotion that must be felt to tap into its true power.
Before falling asleep, reflect on the highlights of your day and replay them in enough clarity and detail to feel their resulting emotions again.
Let your subconscious mind marinate in this receiving emotion, and watch what happens!
14. Do more of what you love and less of what you don’t
Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
There are always things we don’t want to do but they are necessary tasks we must complete.
Start thinking about 3 things you love to do and make them a priority by scheduling them daily or weekly into your calendar.
We don’t often make the time for the things in our life that truly matter.
Change that!
15. Get into nature and show your appreciation for it
Nature is the truest form of beauty, and all it asks of you is to show it appreciation simply.
Get outside, even if it’s for 5 minutes each and every day.
No freedom trumps that of living freely and lightly in nature.
This is a simple and effective way to meditate without crossing your legs and chanting, “Ohmmmmmmm.”
16. Learn something new every day
Live day today as a learner who is curious about the beauty of life and all it has to offer.
The brain gives you a Dopamine hit when you learn something new so do just that.
Alternate between learning something you want to learn and something you’ve never explored before.
This inspires you to live and not just exist.
Imagine how you’d feel if you discovered a new hobby or new adventure to embark on!
17. Move your body to stimulate some fresh ideas
The greatest clarity and the best ideas I experience in life are when I go for a long walk.
Repetitive movements such as walking relax and shift your brain wave state from beta into an alpha state.
This is a brain wave state when you’re not overthinking and freeing your mind to possibilities and insights.
I recommend bringing a voice recorder with you to take down all the amazing insights that will flow to you.
Executing On The Living Freely Steps Above
The key to living free is not just to have a plan but to execute it.
Here is a very simple yet effective strategy for you to do just that.
Follow the steps below for each of the 17 ways above.
This will take 17 days to execute, but what price are you willing to pay to live free?
- Before getting out of bed ask yourself 2 questions focused on exploring each of the steps above.
- Question #1 – How would I feel if I created change using this step today?
- Question #2 – What’s the smallest and most attainable step I can take towards this step today?
- Use your imagination in detail to both imagine and feel the results of the 2 steps above.
- Take action!
Anything worth having takes time, and these steps for living freely will take time, but the rewards are tremendous.
“The best way to live life is to design and create your reality as opposed to being a passive participant to it.”
Are you willing to focus 10-20 minutes a day for 17 days to live a happy life?
Conclusion
Living freely is the ultimate way to live.
Here in The United States, I feel freedom is what this country is based on, yet few of us live a life of freedom.
Apply the 17 steps above with the strategy provided, and I promise you that you will become happier.
